Longford v Mullingar - Under 13 Midlands League

On Saturday morning Mullingar made the short trip to take on Longford in the first game of the Midlands League.

Longford started well from the kick off and after an infringement at the breakdown were awarded a penalty in front of the posts which was kicked successfully by the Longford outside half. This awoke the Mullingar team who began to complete their tackles with Joel and Cormac defending well and the pack also began to take control of the scrum through Eoin S, Finn and Daire. Conor got over for the first try after good work by Orán which was well converted. The next try came from Daire after great work from the rest of his pack. From the kickoff Eoin M fielded the kick in his own 22 before showing his pace to set off down field, beating the first man with a terrific dummy and then putting Conor away on the halfway line for his second try after showing good strength to get over the try line.

Longford came out of the blocks quickly in the second half and used their big pack to their advantage to get over for any early try. Mullingar struggled to get any sustained possession and Longford got over for two further tries without any response which gave the home team the win. 

The coaches were very happy with the performance after only starting back training on Monday. A special well done goes to Harry on making his debut for the club.
